iSpring water filter are specialist in reverse osmosis water filter systems, and have a wide range of products including residential, commercial, counter top filters, filter cartridges, whole house water systems, shower filter systems and more. iSpring water filter aim is to provide top quality accessible drinking water for all homes at affordable prices and providing great service.

Here you will find a beginners guide to understanding what reverse osmosis is, the benefits of it and which iSpring water system would be best for you.

iSpring Water Filter – Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis is the process in which bad and unwanted molecules, such as salts, are removed from a liquid. This works by passing the liquid through a semi-permeable membrane acting as a filter for the household water tap. This filters out all of the unwanted molecules and stores them to the side. These impurities are then simply removed and flushed down the drain, leaving clean crisp water coming out of the tap.

How effective is the reverse osmosis process?

Reverse Osmosis is a very effective system in changing ordinary household water into fresh, clean, pure drinking water. The semi Permeable membrane used in this process acts as a filter containing tiny pores through which only allow clean water to pass through. This works because the natural minerals and salts generally have a larger molecular composition than water, therefore will not be able to pass through the filter.

How does iSpring Water Filter work?

Reverse Osmosis is the process that happens within an iSpring water filtration system. It usually comprises of 5-7 stages from which the water passes through simultaneously.

iSpring Whole House Water Filtration

When the water enters the system, it initially passes through a section of 3 different pre-filters (1 x Sediment Pre-Filter, 1 x Carbon GAC Pre-Filter, 1 x Carbon Block Pre-Filter). The purpose of these filters is to help clean the water slightly before entering the Reverse Osmosis Membrane. The sediment pre-filters job is to remove things such as sand, silt, dirt and other sediments that could clog the system. The carbon filters are used to remove chlorine from the water. This is because, along with the removed sediments, the chlorine could cause serious damage to the Reverse Osmosis membranes. After this, the water passes through the actual Reverse Osmosis Membrane which purifies the water. This section is designed to allow water through but filter out almost all additional contaminants.

How does the iSping Water Filtration System workOnce the water has passed through the semi-permeable membrane during the Reverse Osmosis process, the water comes out in an acidic form. Therefore there is a need for an alkaline filter, which has an important job of changing the water into a perfect natural alkali calcium ionized water. During Reverse Osmosis, essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium are removed from the water. The alkaline filter therefore gives back minerals such as ionized calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium ion, which are key to healthy clean water. The water passes through a DI filter (De-ionization filter).

This is a filter placed immediately after the water has passed through the alkaline filter meaning that the water is the correct PH value, thus improving the effectiveness of the Reverse Osmosis process giving an output of 99.99% pureness. This removed the level of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) to a number close to 0 ppm TDS. This is essential for anyone whoiSpring Filtration Stages

lives in an area in which their TDS level is high within their inline tap water. The water finally passes through an ISpring 11W UV sterilization lamp within a stainless steel housing. The purpose of this is to kill virus’ and bacteria that may have come in contact and/or formed on the water. The iSpring system is programmed to produce UV light within the wavelengths of 250 and 270 nanometres. This filter is however optional within the systems but is especially recommended for customers where their incoming water will be form that of the rain, a well, or even anyone with a bacterial worry concerning their water situation.

What contaminants are seen in tap water before Reverse Osmosis?

Before water has passed through on of our filters there is a high number of contaminants seen inside the water. This can be broken down into 2 groups, inorganic compounds, and organic compounds. Organic compounds are those which contain carbon molecules inside, and all the remaining fall into the category of inorganic. There are a lot of contaminants in water, some in higher concentration than others, some more dangerous than others. Below are some of the biggest contributors to dirty water, all of which iSping water filtration systems will neutralise and remove from the dirty tap water entering the system.

Asbestos

Asbestos is a substance often found in material of older buildings, most commonly used as an insulator in houses. Research was conducted into the material and was found out to be a big risk and effect on cancer, due to this reason the substance has now been banned and can no longer be used in building works. However, there are a lot of strains of the substance left and seen in our everyday lives. The average litre of un-filtered, un-safe drinking water contains an average of 7 million fibres of asbestos. This highly increases your risk to cancer. However, one way of getting rid of the asbestos from the dirty water is by the use of reverse osmosis. Therefore creating clean, safe drinking water.

One of the bigger contaminants seen in dirty drinking water is copper. The foundation of water pipes in buildings is based on copper pipes running through, and around the building. Over time, due to wear-and-tear these pipes start to decay and corrode away leaving harmful amounts of copper being leaked into the water supply. Drinking water contaminated with copper will increase the risk of stomach and intestinal distress, and affects people suffering with Wilson’s disease a large amount.

Fluoride

Fluoride is a natural substance that causes fluorosis, where your teeth lose their natural whiteness and instead turn a shade of brown. This is all because of the high levels of Fluoride that is in the natural water supply that comes out of a non-filtered tap. Reverse osmosis is one of the only treatments that removes this nasty substance from the water. For oral hygiene and health, filtered water is more beneficial.

Fertilisation

Fertilisation and faming contributes to a substantial part of contaminants in water. This is due to the different pesticides laid down on to the ground to aid the growth of crops and keeps pests and different insects off the vegetation. Farmers are oblivious on how much damage this causes to the human body over time as natural water is collected near the areas pesticides have been used. Thallium is a substance seen in pesticides, as well as paint, and when contact is made with the human skin can cause horrible skin irritation and rashes. Reverse osmosis filters out the thallium found in water leaving clean, contaminant-free water that people can use without the worry of having skin irritation.

The biggest inorganic contribute contaminant is Nitrate. This is often caused by land-waste sites and sewage. Too much nitrogen is harmful for humans. The average level seen in 1L of water is 10mg. This level of toxic nitrate can cause dangerous effect such as methemoglobinemia, and “blue-baby syndrome”, a fatal disorder where babies are deprived of oxygen which carries capacities of haemoglobin, thus eventually leading to death. This has been proven to be as a cause of contamination in groundwater. As previously stated, reverse osmosis is a way to stop the risk of this disease.

Cyanide

Cyanide is a toxic substance caused from the result of the manufacturing process of paint. Also in the manufacturing of explosives. This pollute dangerous substances into the ground, from which water is collected. For every litre of water, 0.2mg of poisonous cyanide is contained within non-filtered tap water. In the short run, respiratory issues, and tremors are the main known side-effects. This has been linked to nervous system failure and problems overall.

Some fuels are stored in underground containers, which unfortunately sometimes leak into the ground below them.  This causes harmful substances such as Benzene found in fuel to be dissolved into the extracted ground water. Another large contributor to this is the industrial process of steam cracking, to extract crude oils from rocks below.

Does Reverse Osmosis remove pharmaceuticals from water?

It is commonly found for people to dispose of un-needed prescriptions by flushing them down the toilet. This is a quick way for medicine to enter potential drinking water. Most pharmaceuticals manage to pass the industry standard “safe” level drinking water and therefore make it into the un-filtered taps in many homes. However, the concentration levels of prescription are much lower than that found in the original prescribed doses. There is fear that exposure to numerous different compounds all at once can be very damaging to people’s health, this is due to them working in synergy together. The way to stop this is by installing an iSpring reverse osmosis water filtration system. This system is installed with an activated carbon filter- which gives the contaminants within the dirty water a charge to absorb them within the filter and remove them.

How does Reverse Osmosis waste water and how can this be prevented?

A properly designed Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System wastes about 1-2 gallons of water for every gallon of pure water produced. Even with the newest top, industry-leading technological advances, pre-water cannot be made without a cost. Considering the amount of contaminants removed and cleaned from the water, providing a safe and stable drinking water to intake. Reverse osmosis works by pumping tap water through a semi-permeable membrane acting as a filter. Once the water has passed through this membrane it begins to fill up the household water tank. As the tank begins to fill, the pressure increases, resulting in more back-pressure being formed. This in turn results to the loss of tap water as it cannot pass through the water filter. Therefore the more full the tank, the larger the waste of water is. iSping Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems recognise this and has ultimately placed an automatic shut-off valve that stop the water supply once the tank pressure reaches 65%. This therefore reduces waste as much as possible. iSping have calculated that the average amount of water wasted in each household is equivalent to about 3 flushes of the toilet extra a day.

When will I need to change the filters?

A Reverse Osmosis system comprises of different parts such as pre-filters, carbon filters, as well as the Reverse Osmosis semi-permeable membrane itself. During the initial stage, the incoming water- which is usually the dirtiest- is passed through the pre-filters. This means that they are to be replaced every 6-8 months to assure that they are doing their job of removing the sediments and chlorine. If these are not replaced and maintained, this could result in the damaging of the Reverse Osmosis membrane thus meaning that the consumer does not get the purist water possible. If your house is known to have high levels of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) then it is recommended to change the first filter (Sediment) every month in order to protect the other filters. The actual Semi-permeable Reverse Osmosis Membrane is recommended to be changed every 2-3 years on an average household use. The post-filters are needed to be changed only every 12 months in order to make sure they are fully functioning correctly.

What is a TDS Meter and what can it be used for?

A TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter is a handheld tool used to get the value of solids dissolved within a liquid such as water. This is expressed as in units of (mg/l) or (ppm – Parts Per Million) – which is often used to test whether the Reverse Osmosis system is fully functioning and working correctly. This is done by taking a sample before the water enters the system and one after the water has left the system and compare results.

Is an iSpring Water system better than bottled water?

Depending on the water company, and the quality/price of the water, some bottled water manufacturers aren’t as filtered/clean as other or as an iSpring system. This is also dependant on the model of iSpring water system you have installed into your house. However, a big environmental problem with bottled water is the actual bottles themselves are not currently recyclable and, like plastic bags, are often found at the bottom of the ocean or flushed onto shore.

This affects many animals as their habitats are being destroyed by plastic bottles. In addition, the pollution could ultimately cause tremendous amounts of suffering to the animal as the possibilities that they could eat or become trapped in the waste is high. As the plastic in water bottles has a hard and clear structure, the chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) is used. This chemical substance has been scientifically proven to be hazardous to human health. Common symptoms of this include certain types of cancer, neurological difficulties, reduced fertility in women, and also many more fertility issues. Therefore, eliminating the need to buy bottled water for homes in areas where normal tap water isn’t suitable, is possible with an iSpring water system.

iSpring Water Filter RCC1UP-AK 7-Stage Maximum Performance Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis with Booster Pump, Alkaline Remineralization Filter and UV Sterilizer

iSpring RCC1UP-AK 7 Stage Water Filtration Systems The iSpring RCC1UP-AK 7-Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking water filtration system is the top of the range product offered by iSpring. This system features the full incredible 7 filters. The first 3 x Pre-Filters work to remove the harsh sediment materials such as sand and silt, as well as removing the chlorine contaminants in the inline water before it hits the Reverse Osmosis membrane. This is because sediments and chlorine can damage the membrane making it work less effectively and reduce the lifespan of the membrane.

The membrane is a thin-film composite filtering down to 0.0001 micron (a human hair is about 50 microns). This allows water molecules to pass through and blocks a majority of contaminants. After this comes, the alkaline remineralization filter which adds necessary substances such as ionized calcium and magnesium back into the water making it healthier and nicer to drink. The UV sterilizer filter shines an 11W UV light onto the filtered water to kill any micro-organisms or viruses left in the water, the water coming out approximately 99.99% clean.

This filter takes the RCC7AK-UV one step further by adding an additional booster pump onto the system which is upon recognising the issue of low water pressure at the source. This moderates the water pressure to an ideal rate to maximise water flow through the reverse osmosis and helps reduce waste and increase production speed. Most systems include membranes which have a 75 GPD (Gallons Per Day) rating allowing only 75 gallons of water being able to be produced within a 24 hour period. However, in the RCC1UP-AK 7-Stage water filtration system, the membrane has been upgraded to allow 100 GPD to be produced. This is essential if there are several people using the system in one household. This model includes colour-coded tubes and quick-fitting to help a DIY install along with our provided videos. From customer reviews, the alkaline remineralization filter makes the water taste much cleaner and nicer to drink.

iSpring Water Filter WGB32B 3-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System w/ 20-Inch Big Blue Sediment and Carbon Block Filters

iSpring WGB32B 3 Stage Whole House Water Filtration Systems The iSpring WGB32B 3-Stage water filtration system is the “point of entry” system. This system doesn’t feature a reverse osmosis membrane stage in the filtration, instead features only the first 3 x Pre-Filters. This therefore doesn’t purify water as much as the other reverse osmosis water systems but cleans the water enough to make a difference. The point of the first 3 x Pre-Filters is to remove sediments such as salt and silt, in addition to chlorine and such substances. This model features big 20-inch blue sediment and carbon block filters. The purpose of these is to minimise the reduction of water pressure. Another advantage of this type of filter is the extended lifespan of the filter before it needs to be changed. It has been tested to allow 100,000 gallons of water be filtered before the filter needs to be changed. This is different to the others which is considerably less, the extra durability allows for an extra 3-6 months before changing is needed. We have made this kit easy to connect to your water supply by installing a 1” pipe thread fitting for both inlet and outlet. This allows the consumer to install the product easily without the need for a professional.  If not it will be quick work for an experienced plumber, and is relatively cheap. From customer reviews, we have had excellent feedback on how easy it is to install the system and get it up and running. The quality used is very high and therefore leaks are a on very rare occasions.

iSpring RCC7AK-UV 7 Stage Under Sink Reverse Osmosis Filtration Systems

The RCC7AK-UV is the second to top-end water filtration system manufactured by iSping. This model features all the features from the previous filtration systems. It begins with the 3 x Pre-Filters protecting the Reverse Osmosis semi-permeable membrane from sediment and contaminants such as sand, silt and chlorine. The Reverse Osmosis thin-film composite Semi permeable membrane means that almost nothing but water molecules are allowed through the membrane. After this comes the post carbon and the alkaline re-mineralization filters.

onto the end of the process. The advantages of having this in the water filtration process is that it kills any bacteria and/or viruses from inside the water, improving the

cleanliness and purity. Unlike the RCC1UP-AK water filtration system, it does not feature a pump to maximise water pressure though the membrane and reduce wastage to a minimum. It also only has a 75 GPD (Gallons Per Day) rating on the semi permeable membrane compared to the 100 GPD on the RCC1UP-AK meaning that less water can be made per day. From customer reviews, the alkaline remineralization filter makes the water taste much cleaner and nicer to drink.

iSpring Water Filter Systems

iSpring WGB22B 2-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System w/ 20-Inch Big Blue Sediment and Carbon Block Filter

Introduction and Description

The WGB22B is a filtration system designed for cleaning and purifying water supplies to an entire home, business or other site. This is not a ‘point of use’ system but rather can filter water at the source. This in turn means every tap will be cleaned.

How it Works and What it DoesiSpring WGB22B 2-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System

This is a multi-stage system. The first stage of uses a high-capacity polypropylene filter. Removing sediment results in water that is less cloudy and discolored and that is much better to drink.

The second stage uses a carbon block made from coconut shell to remove bad tastes and odors. IT can remove volatile organic compounds, as well as chlorine. A filter that uses a carbon cartridge will work by running water through carbon such as charcoal or coconut shells. This carbon is activated, meaning that it has thousands of tiny pores which are capable of capturing and trapping the toxins and other harmful compounds in the water while allowing the fluid itself to pass through harmlessly.

This system is meant for ‘lightly contaminated’ municipal water. For water that has not been heavily chlorinated, this is a great choice. This is something that is mentioned right on the product listing and the company has to be given props for being transparent and honest in its marketed and descriptions. The WCB32 is a little more useful for those homes dealing with large amounts of led and other contaminants. This is particularly useful for well water sources.

Visit Retailer

Key Features

This is relatively low on additional features. There is no self-cleaning and no fancy touchscreen interface etc. However, the two stage filter is well designed and removing sediment will make this more efficient at passing through the carbon filter. This means longer lasting cartridges and another nice fact is that the non-proprietary standard cartridges should be cheap to replace and easy to find.

Pros and Cons

This is a well-made, versatile and powerful water filtration solution. However, it is lacking in some of the more advanced features, such as led or iron filtration for well-source water. It is also relatively lacking in additional features and is somewhat basic in terms of the amount of water it can handle. System capacity is 500 gallons per day and the feed water pressure should be 40-80psi at all times. Capacity is 20-inch.

Overall Verdict

Overall, this is a good choice of water filter. It will provide your entire home with clean, drinkable water that will taste better and be free from the chlorine smell and potential harm that it can cause.

iSpring Water Filter WCB32 3-Stage 20-Inch Whole House with 3/4-Inch NPT Carbon and Clear Housing on First Stage

Introduction and Description

The WCB32 is a three stage 20 inch whole house water filter. Like the WGB22B, this means that it will filter and purify water at the source and that in turn means that you can actually benefit from clean water out of every tap from your home.

This is a step up from the WGB22B however, in that it offers a three stage filtration process rather than just a two stage. That third stage removes lead and iron, which is usful in any home but particularly useful for well-sourced water.

How it Works and What it Does

The three stages of iSpring water filter.

The first stage is a sediment removal system. This is a very useful stage that isn’t included in the very most basic water filters but which you should always look for. If you have sediment in your water, then you will know because your water will look cloudy and muddy and it might be discolored – not very nice when you’re taking a bath!

What’s more, is that the inclusion of this stage means that the sediment will be removed from your water by the time it gets to the second stage – the basic carbon filter. Carbon filters work by trapping unwanted compounds in the tiny pores of the activated charcoal or coconut shell. This means that the contaminants are trapped but the water is free to pass through on its own. That results in much purer and cleaner water.

Visit Retailer

Over time though, the filter in a carbon filter will get ‘clogged up’ with these contaminants and the pores will become ‘full’ as it were. At this point, they need to be exchanged. Thankfully, by removing sediment first, this takes longer and thus you have longer lasting carbon filters.

The additional third stage that is not found in the WGB22B, is the stage that can remove iron and lead.

Why remove lead? Lead is a toxin that can make its way into our water on its way to the taps. This is still used in many pipes throughout the US and as they corrode, they add more of this toxin to the water. It can also damage every single organ in the body and this can lead to stunted growth in children, behavioral problems, learning disabilities, brain damage, deafness… the list goes on. It has also been linked with premature births.

This is why steps are being taken to remove lead from pipes and it’s why you no longer get lead in pencils. However, for now it is still in the water and thus you need a way to get rid of it – especially if you have well sourced water.

Key Features

The three stage filtration is the key feature here. This is a system that allows you to clean water in three ways – especially useful for well sourced water but really great for any home that wants to enjoy cleaner, healthier tap water.

There is little here in the way of additional or extra features however. One nice touch is a clear housing for the first stage, that lets you see what’s going on. There’s also a pressure release button for the  whole of house water filter pressure.

Visit Retailer

Pros and Cons

This is a relatively affordable solution for cleaning the water in your home that comes with an impressive three stage system that can remove a huge number of unwanted contaminants ranging from sediment, to chlorine, to volatile organic compounds.

All this combined with the accessible price point and straightforward description and instructions make for a solid product. One slight downside however is that some users found this to be difficult to install.

It’s also worth noting that these types of filters are slightly less comprehensive than the reverse osmosis filtration systems – see the RCC7P below.

Overall Verdict

Overall, this is an excellent choice of water filter. The three stage system is more advanced than a lot of filters and second only to the more extreme solutions such as reverse osmosis. It can be tricky to install but for the price, it provides great value and excellent quality water most importantly of all!

iSpring Water Filter RCC7P-AK 6-Stage Maximum Performance Reverse Osmosis Drinking System with Booster Pump and Alkaline Remineralization Filter

The RCC-7P-AK from iSpring is outfitted with a booster pump, which is pre-installed, to increase water pressure for the process of reverse osmosis. The booster pump enhances the system to enable it to function at the highest level iSpring RCC7P-AK 6-Stage Maximum Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration Systempossible.

How It Works

This filtration system works by processing water through six phases of filtration. These phases include:

  •         Stage 1: The first phase of the process passes the water through a 5 micron sediment filter, which captures various particles, including rust, silt, and dirt; all things that can not only impact the taste of your water, but could also damage your plumbing.
  •         Stage 2: The next phase involves passing the water through a 5 micron GAC filter. This stage reduces chlorine levels, odd tastes, and bad odors.
  •         Stage 3: Residual taste, color and odor are removed via a dense carbon filter. This filter also helps to eliminate chemicals that are infamous for being difficult to remove from water, such as chloramines.
  •         Stage 4: This is one of the most important phases of the filtration process. The membrane contains small holes that are .0001 microns in size, which removes lead, arsenic, copper, chromium, perchlorate, sodium and various other contaminants that are commonly found in drinking water. Stage 5: During this phase, the water is passed through a GAC filter, or a post carbon filter. This serves as the final filter the water is passed through prior to leaving the storage tank.
  •         Stage 6: Lastly, the reverse osmosis water is passed through an Alkaline pH filter.

What it Does

The 6-Stage GPD RCC7P-AK RO water filtration system from iSpring not only removes harmful elements from water, including chemicals, parasites, dirt, dust, and rust, but it also adds healthy minerals to the water that are removed during the process of reverse osmosis. It not only makes water softer, healthier and better tasting, but it also reduces the damage that it can cause to plumbing, clothing, skin, and hair. Thanks to the Booster Pump, this water filtration system also increases water pressure.

Key Features

This iSpring water filtration system is outfitted with the following features:

  •         A rejection rate of more than 90 percent of total dissolved solids
  •         A Booster Pump
  •         An Alkaline filter
  •         A 3.2g metal pressurized storage tank with a butyl diaphragm.
  •         Removes up to 98 percent of heavy metals, sediment, chemicals and other contaminants that are commonly found in water.
  •         Lead-free goose neck faucet
  •         ¼ inch food grade tubing
  •         An automatic shut-off valve and check valve
  •         All the hardware necessary for installation

The Advantages

This 6-stage water filtration system from iSpring offers several benefits. Among the most notable benefits that we found were its ability to remove high amounts of contaminants, particularly dirt and iron. We were also pleased with the pre-installed Power Booster and how easy this unit is to install. We found that water that is filtered through this system does, indeed, taste, smell, and look better.

The Disadvantages

This water filtration system does deliver what it says it will: cleaner, healthier and better tasting water. However, there is one downside: the system isn’t as durable as we would like it to be. In fact, it seems a little flimsy, which we believe will increase the risk of having to get replacement parts more often than you may like.

Overall Verdict

If you are looking for a water filtration system that can purify water from a single source, this unit from iSpring is a good option. The 6-stage filtration process really does remove the majority of harmful contaminants and improves the overall taste and look of the water. Since it replaces healthy minerals that are lost during the reverse osmosis process, this system also helps to make your water much healthier.

The last two iSpring products we looked at offered two stage and three stage filtration respectively. This third system takes things up another level and provides a three stage system while still being surprisingly effective and high quality.

Those extra stages include a reverse osmosis and water polishing. That means that you can remove nearly every possible contaminant and at the same time, treat the water to be better tasting and smelling so that it is more usable around the home and more pleasant to drink and wash with.

How it Works and What it Does

The three stages work as follows. Stage one is your sediment filter. This has a transparent casing so that you can see the cloudy sediment as it gets removed from your water. This also makes your water better prepped and treated to pass through the next stage.

That next stage is a regular carbon filter just as we’ve seen before. This granular activated carbon (GAC) can remove unwanted components down to 5 microns and will work even better thanks to the first stage. There is then a second carbon block for removing unwanted chlorine taste and smell that got through the first time.

iSpring RCC7P 5-Stage Maximum Performance Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System with Booster PumpThen comes the first new stage: the high rejection .0001 micron TFC reverse osmosis membrane. As discussed in the introduction, reverse osmosis is one of the most powerful and comprehensive forms of filtration because it forces water through a dense membrane against the direction of flow. This means that the most microscopic particles are filtered, resulting in highly pure and drinkable water.

Then there is the total polishing inline post carbon filter. This removes any other taste and odors to make sure your water isn’t just healthy but great tasting.

Key Features

On top of the comprehensive and highly effectual five stage filtration system, you will also get a lot of additional great features and specifications.  These include new technology to reduce waste water (to a ratio of 3:1, which claims to be the best on the market), a luxury goose neck faucet, an upgraded booster pump to improve water pressure so that anyone with PSI 30-55 can benefit from the RO filtration and much more. There is also a water flood alarm as an additional safety feature.

Pros and Cons

This five stage system is absolutely fantastic at providing a comprehensive purification for your tap water. The result is bottle-quality water, plain and simple, which you will find tastes better and treats you better as well.

This can totally eradicate nearly all of the most concerning contaminants from your water. That includes arsenic for example. We all know just how damaging arsenic can be. In fact, this is a poison that is used for murderous intent in many stories and historical events. And guess what? It’s in the water you’re drinking! That’s because arsenic has a role in many different industrial applications. If it builds up in the body, it can cause a range of cancers, as well as blackfoot disease and other issues. In Taiwan, levels of arsenic in the water are particularly high and no surprise: incidence of blackfoot disease is much higher too! This is just scratching the surface of the many unwanted toxins and contaminants found in the water. As you can see, it is very important that we remove those toxins if we’re going to enjoy optimum health and avoid the various different complaints that can come from consuming these substances in even small quantities.

This is the kind of reason that people decide on the more comprehensive options for their water filtration. At this price, anyone can now benefit from that level of filtration.

The only potential drawback is that this system can be complex to install and that it is slightly less comprehensive than the RCC1UP (coming next).

Overall Verdict

Overall, this is one of the very best options on the market right now. With so many incredible features at this price, it is actually one of the best water filter systems we’ve reviewed on this site. It’s not flashy or particularly easy to install, but it does what it needs to do incredibly well without breaking the bank.

iSpring RCC1UP 6-Stage Maximum Performance Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System with Booster Pump and UV Light Sterilizer

Introduction and Description

The RCC1UP builds upon the already very impressive features of the other iSpring products on this list. This is the same five stages as the RCC7P… plus one more. At the same time, it is once again able to provide whole-house filtering, so just one unit will provide you with bottle-fresh water from every tap.

How it Works and What it Does

iSpring RCC1UP 6-Stage Maximum Performance Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System with Booster Pump and UV Light Sterilizer

Once again, you get the same basic filter stages and then the more impressive extras from the RCC7P. Stage one then

is the sediment removal. This can help to remove sediment and mud from the water that leaves it looking cloudy and muddy and which can negatively impact on both the taste and the smell of the water. Not only that, but this will also enhance the performance of the next two carbon filter stages. These remove unwanted contaminants by running water through a form of carbon, which collects the unwanted toxins. This happens twice before stage four which is an advanced RO membrane: that means that you are forcing water through a membrane that will remove contaminants just 0.0001 microns thick. Consider that a human hair is 50 microns!

From there, you then get water polishing to improve the taste and the smell.

So what could possibly be new on top of that? Well, that would be an 11W ultraviolet sterilizer that can kill bacteria and viruses in order to prevent infections and to help keep your immune system healthy and strong.

Visit Retailer

Key Features

On top of this comprehensive functionality, the RCC1UP also offers a transparent first stage filter, so that you can manually inspect sediment. It also offers a ‘premium’ European style faucet.

Pros and Cons.

Of course the key advantage of this system is simply how comprehensive it is. Being able to combine a carbon filter, a sediment filter, a UV sterilizer and a RO system essentially means that you are getting all the most powerful filter systems built into one product.

The price is also very appealing considering this functionality, making it one of the best value options on the market. Of course, 5 and 3 stage models will be cheaper, so it is up to you to decide if you need that extra functionality.

The only other potential downside is that despite a ‘streamlined installation’, some users describe it being difficult to install this system.

Overall Verdict

If you really want your water to be filtered to the highest possible level, then this six stage system will provide you with all of the filtering you could possibly need. This is a truly comprehensive solution.

iSpring ED200 Whole House Electronic Descaler Water Conditioner

The ED200 Whole House Electronic Descaler Water Conditioner is a computerized water conditioning system that is designed to eliminate hard water. It doesn’t require chemicals, salt or filter cartridges like other filtration systems, iSpring ED2000 Whole House Electronic Descaler Water Conditionerwhich makes it a truly innovative product.

How It Works

The manner in which this water softening system works is rather unique. Two cables are wrapped around a main water pipe, forming a coil of sorts. This creates a complex electronic magnetic waveform that is frequency modulated. The process forms an oscillating electric field that is pushed into the water, which agitates water molecules, triggering the release of carbon dioxide. This causes the early release of calcium bicarbonate, which increases solubility and allows the water to dissolve deposits of scale.

What It Does

The ED200 Whole House Electronic Descaler Water Conditioner resolves issues with hard water while using the scientific process of electronic magnetic waveform. This process removes deposits of sediment in hard water, resulting in cleaner, softer water that tastes and feels better and improves its overall quality and performance. It descales your water system, preventing the buildup of scale.

Key Features

The key features of this water conditioner include:

  •         Two antenna cables that are used to create a frequency modulated electronic waveform.
  •         Small size
  •         Doesn’t require cartridges or salt, like other water softening systems
  •         No plumbing alterations necessary

The Advantages

This water softening system eliminates hard water problems naturally, without the use of chemicals, salt or cartridges. It eliminates unwanted minerals, yet maintains the healthy ones. It removes scale from your water, thus making it softer and improving its taste, function and overall quality. It’s also easy to install and maintain.

The Disadvantages

While we didn’t experience any issues, some users have reported having problems with installation.

Overall Verdict

If you are looking for a water conditioning solution that doesn’t require salt or chemicals, is easy to use, and can soften the water throughout your home, the ED200 Whole House Electronic Descaler Water Conditioner from iSpring is a great option.

Final Verdict

The question when making purchases like this, is always whether or not you really need that additional filtering. Consider this thought experiment. Take a hair from your head and then dip it into the dirt outside. Now dip that hair into your glass of water. Do you still want to drink the water? The irony is that it is already much dirtier from the same microscopic particles and even filled with poisons! Poisons? Really? Certainly! One of the unwanted additives that makes its way into our water is pesticide. Another is arsenic. Then there are things like fluoride, volatile organic compounds, estrogenic substances and more.Only something as comprehensive as the RCC7P is going to be able to remove all those agents. And for the relatively low increase in hike, this reviewer believes it is a good value proposition.
